20/04/2001 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission and the European Economic and Social Committee (ESC) are organising for 26 and 27 April, at the seat of the ESC in Brussels, a public hearing on the theme "defining the strategy for sustainable development of the European Union - Points of view of the civil society and of public authorities", a strategy that will be adopted during the European Council in Gothenburg in June this year. The hearing will therefore be based on discussion of the consultation paper from the Commission on strategy published on 27 March 2001.
