Green Light to take-over of Sema by Schlumberger

Brussels, 06/04/2001 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission authorised the take-over of the British computer services company and services to the Sema companies by the American company Schlumberger. The main activities of the latter consist of the provision of specialised products and services aimed at the oil sectors and public services as well as the manufacturing of chips and services associated to these kinds of cards. The operation, made public in February, was carried out to the value of 560 Pence per Sema share, valuing the company as a whole at GBP 3.6 million. The Commission feels that the activities of the parties are largely complementary. The only overlaps noted concern the software application sector and computer services, but are very limited. The entity formed by the operation will, moreover, be submitted to powerful competition in all the markets concerned.
