ECONOMIC INTERPENETRATION / (eu) electronics

The French groups THOMSON MULTIMEDIA and the Japanese NEC will merge their plasma screen activities. The agreement foresees the creation of a 50-50 joint venture that should be formalised by the end of the year. NEC is one of the main shareholders in THOMSON MULTIMEDIA with 6.80% of its capital.
