Cypriot government states that status of candidate is not given "in perpetuity"

Nicosia, 20/02/2001 (Agence Europe) - The spokesman for the Cypriot Government, Michalis Papapetrou, commented on the adoption by the European Parliament of the Swoboda Report on the EU's financial assistance to Turkey by stressing that approval of this financial aid was "accompanied by a series of important political positions" (see EUROPE of 15 February, p.10).
