Brussels, 20/02/2001 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday, the European Commission will define the broad lines of its budgetary priorities for 2002 by adopting a document on "annual political strategy for 2002". The document is the first stage in the procedure for establishing the budget for the 2002 financial year, since the preliminary draft to be proposed by the European Commission will be based on the guidelines that it defines. The College is expected, on Wednesday, to make several last judgements mainly on the number of additional posts to be requested for 2002 in the context of its administrative reform, and in which fields. According to the conclusions of the "Peer Group", presented last summer, the Commission envisaged requesting 317 new posts in 2002.
