Draft stabilisation and association agreement approved, trade concessions granted, arms restrictions abolished

Brussels, 21/11/2000 (Agence Europe) - Concerning FYROM (Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia), the Council: - approved the draft stabilisation and association agreement negotiated by the European Commission. It will be initialled on Friday on the fringe of the Zagreb Summit; - extended to FYROM the exceptional trade measures applied to the other countries and territories participating in the stabilisation and association process being implemented for the Western Balkans; - suspended arms restrictions applied to FYROM, it being understood that the Fifteen will apply strictly the EU code of conduct in this area adopted on 8 June 1998.
