Parliament calls for review of regulation on mergers and takeover bids directive

Strasbourg, 07/09/2000 (Agence Europe) - Following the declaration by the European Commissioner for competition, Mario Monti, on the wave of mergers in the telecommunications sector (see yesterday's EUROPE, p.12), the European Parliament adopted a resolution tabled by the EPP, Socialist, Green and United Left groups by which it calls for a review of the regulation on mergers and the takeover bids directive.
