Green light to mobile telephone joint venture between Hutchinson. NTT DoCoMo and KPN mobile

Brussels, 07/09/2000 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission authorised a plan to create a joint venture between Hutchinson Whampoa Limited (Hong Kong), NTT DoCoMo (Japan) and KPN Mobile NV (Netherlands). Named Hutchinson 3G UK Limited, this new company won one of the five licences for the operating of third generation mobile telephones in the United Kingdom where it will set up and operate a UMTS network (Universal Mobile Telecommunications System).
