According to the Wall Street journal, the German BERTELSMANN (annual turnover of around DM 30 million) is negotiating the acquisition of reader's digest association (turnover of USD 2.53 billion in 1999). The American group published, among others, the Reader's digest selection known for being the most widely distributed in the world (48 editions in 19 languages 29 million copies).
