22/06/2000 (Agence Europe) - At the close of the European Council in Feira, Danish Prime Minister Poul Rasmussen, speaking to the press, said he was very pleased with the results of the process for follow-up to the Lisbon Summit. He stressed above all the usefulness of the working method, open consultation, adopted in Lisbon (Ed.: a European Council to which Mr Rasmussen had given considerable personal input). Regarding extension of the agenda of the IGC to cover enhanced cooperation, Mr Rasmussen confirmed that Denmark does not see the need to amend the Treaty provisions on this subject, but that, if other Member States so wish, he is willing to discuss the matter, above all because this will force the latter to explain in greater detail what they really want.
