Law on closure of a first part of the Ignalina nuclear power station opens way for donors conference

Brussels, 08/05/2000 (Agence Europe) - The Lithuanian Parliament last week adopted a law on the closure of Unit 1 of the Ignalina nuclear power station by 2005. The parliamentary approval of this decision, taken by the government last autumn, definitively opens the way to the donors conference next 21 and 22 June in Vilnius (most probably co-chaired by the European Commission) in view of gathering international financial contributions, including those of the EU, to financially support the...
