GDP per capita in 48 regions out of 50 in CEECs remains below 75% of Community average

Luxembourg, 02/05/2000 (Agence Europe) - Eurostat has put together a first picture of the regional economies of the Central European countries that are applying for EU membership (CEECs). Out of 50 regions, 48 had a per capita GDP below 75% of the Community average during the period 1995-97. The report carried out by the Statistical Office of the European Communities notes that only the regions of Bratislava (Slovak Republic) and Prague (Czech Republic) exceeded this level with rates of 96%...
