Strasbourg, 13/04/2000 (Agence Europe) - The Duma's Bureau for Relations with the European Union, chaired by Vladimir Lukin, had a series of talks with representatives of the different groups of the European Parliament, as well as with the chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee, Elmar Brok, and the President of Liberal Group, Pat Cox. The Russian deputies then had a meeting with the EP delegation for relations with Russia, headed by German Social-Democrat Constanze Krehl.
Regarding Chechnya (on which Parliament was voting a resolution Thursday evening), Mr. Lukin proposed that, instead of sending a delegation of MEPs on the ground, a joint visit of members of the European Parliament and members of the Duma be envisaged.
