Inflation confirmed at 2.8% in June in euro area

17/07/2026 (Agence Europe)Annual inflation in the euro area stood at 2.8% in June, down from 3.2% in May, according to figures published by the Statistical Office of the European Union (Eurostat) on Friday 17 July. In the EU, annual inflation stood at 2.9% in June 2026, down from 3.3% in May. The lowest rates were recorded in Sweden (1.0%), Czechia (1.1%) and Denmark (1.8%), while the highest were recorded in Romania (9.2%), Lithuania (5.4%) and Bulgaria (5.2%). Price rises were moderate in France (2.0%) and Germany, and stronger in Italy (3.0%) and Spain (3.6%). Compared with May, annual inflation fell in 22 Member States. In June, services (+1.51 percentage points, pp) and energy (+0.77 pp) made the largest contribution to the euro area inflation rate.
