EU Council adopts AI Omnibus package, banning “nudification” applications

29/06/2026 (Agence Europe)On Monday 29 June, the EU Council adopted the ‘AI Omnibus’ package as an A item, i.e. without prior debate, during the ‘Employment and Social Affairs’ Council (EPSCO) meeting. The package is intended to simplify European Union rules on artificial intelligence. The main measures include the introduction of a ban on non-consensual “nudification” applications, following the scandal involving Grok, as well as the postponement of the date of application of the obligations imposed on high-risk artificial intelligence systems, in order to give the sector time to put in place the standards necessary for their deployment on the market (see EUROPE 13864/1). The regulation will enter into force three days after its publication in the Official Journal of the European Union, which, according to the EU Council, should take place shortly. The European Parliament had already given the green light to this simplification package on 16 June (see EUROPE 13889/23). (APH)
