18/06/2026 (Agence Europe) – Five organisations from the transport and aviation sector (CLECAT, EBAA, EEA, CANSO Europe and ASD) have joined the ‘Athens Declaration’ on the management of noise linked to air traffic, launched in June 2025 by ACI Europe, Airlines for Europe (A4E) and the European Regions Airline Association (ERA). In a new joint statement published on Wednesday 17 June, the signatories call for the full application of the European regulation on a balanced approach to noise - a mandatory procedure under which Member States must analyse noise pollution at major airports and assess all available mitigation measures. The organisations denounce operating restrictions imposed by certain Member States without full compliance with the procedures of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and the mitigation measures provided for under European legislation.
