18/06/2026 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission and the European Disability Forum opened applications on Thursday 18 June for the Access City Award 2027, which recognises cities with more than 50,000 inhabitants that have taken measures to improve accessibility for persons with disabilities. The three winners will receive a grant to support further improvements. A special mention for “accessible community services” will be awarded this year to a city that promotes the autonomy and participation of persons with disabilities through local services. Other special mentions may be awarded for achievements relating to transport, public services, information technologies or access to cultural heritage.
