03/06/2026 (Agence Europe) – Belgium and Bulgaria will benefit in 2026 from an increase in their quota of euro coins put into circulation, following a favourable decision by the European Central Bank (ECB) published on Wednesday 3 June in the Official Journal of the European Union. The ECB approved last May a substantial increase in the volume of coins intended for circulation in Bulgaria in order to meet strong demand linked to the recent adoption of the euro and the continued exchange of levs for euros. Belgium, for its part, has obtained an increase in its quota of collector coins to allow the issuance of two new gold investment coins (the ‘Belga Gold’) with face values of €75 and €300.
