03/06/2026 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 3 June, at the initiative of French Nathalie Loiseau, 25 Members of the European Parliament from the Renew Europe group called on the presidents of the European Commission and the European Council to impose individual sanctions on Xenia Fedorova, a commentator for several French media outlets, “remaining perfectly consistent in her pro-Kremlin stance and in line with her known links to EU-sanctioned Russian state propagandist Margarita Simonyan, who had personally entrusted her to establish herself in France as a Kremlin mouthpiece”. Ms Fedorova was the founder, president and news director of Russia Today France from 2017 to 2022. It is therefore “logical” that the grounds which led to sanctions against RT France should also serve as the basis for personal sanctions against Ms Fedorova, who is “responsible for disseminating propagandist and bluntly manipulative narratives on the war in Ukraine and towards the EU”, the MEPs say in their letter (https://aeur.eu/f/m5i ).
