20/05/2026 (Agence Europe)On the occasion of the World Health Assembly, the European Commission committed, on Tuesday 19 May, to paying nearly €74 million to the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI) for 2026 and 2027. This financial commitment, from the EU’s Horizon Europe research framework programme, will help strengthen joint efforts aimed at: - accelerating vaccine research and development, if possible within 100 days of a pandemic being declared; - improving preparedness for future outbreaks; - strengthening global capacity to respond to health emergencies. This announcement is part of the Global Health Resilience Initiative, which the Commission presented last week (see EUROPE 13868/18). (MB)
