20/05/2026 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 20 May, the European Commission launched a consultation on the functioning of the Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (‘MiCA’), which has been in force since 2024. The EU institution wishes to assess whether the European framework remains fit for purpose in the face of the rapid evolution of digital asset markets and changes observed in the international regulatory environment. The consultation concerns in particular the main mechanisms governing crypto-assets, ‘stablecoins’, their issuers, as well as associated service providers. Two questionnaires have been published: one intended for the general public, the other targeting sector stakeholders, financial institutions, public authorities, academics and civil society organisations. Contributions may be submitted until 31 August. Links to the public questionnaire: https://aeur.eu/f/lz8; and the targeted questionnaire: https://aeur.eu/f/lz9 (BD)
