13/05/2026 (Agence Europe) – The European Union has decided to extend its military assistance mission in Mozambique (EUMAM Mozambique) until 31 December 2026, according to the legal act associated with the decision, published on Wednesday 13 May in the Official Journal of the EU. The mandate for this mission was due to expire on 30 June 2026 (see EUROPE 13409/24). In addition, the EU has decided to allocate a budget of €3.14 million for the shared costs of the mission for the period between 1 July and 31 December 2026. Set up in July 2021, the mission aims to help the Quick Reaction Force (QRF) of the Mozambican Defence Forces (FADM) achieve a sustainable operational cycle in line with international humanitarian law, through a combination of advice, mentoring and specialist training.
