28/04/2026 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday, 28 April, European Union Representative to the West Bank, Gaza, and UNRWA Alexandre Stutzmann announced the disbursement of €9.29 million to the Palestinian Authority (PA) in order to support medical referrals to East Jerusalem hospitals. This contribution is funded by Finland (€1 million), Italy (€1 million), Luxembourg (€3 million), and Switzerland (€4.297 million) and is channelled through PEGASE, the EU’s direct financial support mechanism. The EU delegation announced in a press release that €20 million in additional funding from the EU budget is expected to be released later this year. Mr Stutzmann emphasised that the EU remained firmly committed to supporting the Palestinian Authority’s efforts to strengthen and sustain the healthcare system; he also encouraged it to pursue reforms that aim to improve efficiency, equity, and access to essential care for all patients.
