28/04/2026 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 28 April, the European Parliament approved a six-month extension to the mandate of the Special Committee on the ‘European Democracy Shield’. This committee, created in February 2025 for an initial 12-month mandate (see EUROPE 13571/25), had already been extended once. Comprising 33 members and chaired by Nathalie Loiseau (Renew Europe, French), this committee is seeking to take stock of the attacks on European democracies and the responses of the European Union, and to make proposals for further action.
