31/03/2026 (Agence Europe) – The EU Council has adopted the agreement with the European Parliament on the directive revising the rules on package travel. Reached in December (see EUROPE 13765/7), the agreement strengthens the protection of travellers who purchase various tourist services - such as flights, transfers, accommodation or excursions - as part of a single package. The revised Package Travel Directive adjusts the definition of ‘package travel’, enhances the information that must be provided to travellers and clarifies travellers’ rights in the event of package cancellation or service provider insolvency. The European Parliament has already adopted the agreement (see EUROPE 13827/21). It will enter into force 20 days after its publication in the Official Journal of the EU. Member States will then have 28 months to transpose it into national legislation. Read the agreement: https://aeur.eu/f/l53 (AD)
