26/02/2026 (Agence Europe) – As expected, the Ministers of the EU27, meeting on Thursday 26 February at the Competitiveness Council, approved the conclusions on the 2030 Agenda for consumers (see EUROPE 13813/12). They are calling for greater protection for European consumers, particularly in the online environment. The conclusions include several references to “changes in consumption patterns linked to the rise of digital technology” and “misleading and aggressive techniques, particularly through online platforms”, and welcomes the Commission’s intention to propose the Digital Fairness Act (DFA). “To protect consumers in the digital age, we need to combat harmful practices and risks online, ensure sustainable consumption and strengthen cross-border enforcement”, says Michael Damianos, representative of the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the EU.
