09/02/2026 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 9 February, the European Commission launched a public consultation on the revision of the European Union’s post-2030 climate policy framework. The aim is to gather contributions from citizens, national authorities, businesses and organisations on how to adjust the regulations on effort sharing and flexibilities to achieve greenhouse gas emission reduction targets. Contributions, which can be submitted until 4 May, will enable stakeholders to participate in the preparation of the legislative proposals expected in the last quarter of 2026. This consultation follows the update of the European climate law, which introduces a legally binding target of a 90% reduction in emissions by 2040 (see EUROPE 13770/1).
