Brussels, 05/02/2026 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 5 February, the European Commission imposed a provisional anti-dumping duty on imports of 1,4-butanediol (BDO) from China, Saudi Arabia and the United States. It is a chemical compound used to produce a wide range of downstream chemical products used in sectors such as automotive, defence, electronics and batteries. The Commission opened an investigation following a complaint lodged on 24 April 2025 by INEOS Solvents SA. It “contained sufficient evidence of the existence of dumping and of material injury resulting therefrom to justify the opening of the investigation”. The provisional anti-dumping duties range from 52.4% to 142.5%. Interested parties may submit their written comments within 15 calendar days of the date of entry into force of the Regulation, and may be heard by the Commission within five days.
