04/12/2025 (Agence Europe) – Spain finally joined the 20 countries in support of the Portuguese government’s conclusions on the results of the Porto Social Forum, which focused on quality jobs (see EUROPE 13763/4, 13713/10). It joins these countries: Greece, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia. The lack of time or the European Parliament’s doubts about its involvement in the process led to the failure of the Declaration project, which might not have been supported by European employers either. “Jobs need to provide fair pay, safe and healthy working conditions, including in relation to mental health, workplace wellbeing and work-life balance, equal opportunities, effective social protection with access to life-long training, and access to collective bargaining in line with national practices”, the text stated.
