EU examines price offer from Volkswagen Anhui joint undertaking in China regarding tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles

Brussels, 04/12/2025 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 4 December, the European Commission opened a partial interim review of its countervailing duty on Chinese electric vehicles to assess the price undertaking offer made by Volkswagen (Anhui) Automotive, a joint undertaking between JAC Motors and Volkswagen, based in China. Under the countervailing duty imposed in 2024 on Chinese battery electric vehicles, a Chinese producer can negotiate a minimum price with the EU in order to escape the countervailing duty. The European Commission has deemed the offer admissible and will now examine the acceptability of the proposed undertaking. See the review notice: https://aeur.eu/f/ju8 (LM)
