31/10/2025 (Agence Europe) – As the Halloween festivities approach, two MEPs from The Left, Sweden’s Hanna Gedin and Denmark’s Per Clausen, have launched an initiative aimed at deconstructing the discourse—which now seems to be prevailing at the European level—that the bureaucratic monstrosity that certain EU rules are said to represent would be seriously detrimental to economic competitiveness. “With the bureaucracy that Brussels [has] long been famous for suddenly being branded monstrous by those that fed [...] it—a shift has taken place in the EU”, they note in a press release. However, they point out that the bureaucracy that is criticised in this way also confers “benefits” on European citizens “by protecting consumers, climate and the environment from, among other things, pollution and corporate greed.” More information on the campaign that the two elected representatives have launched: https://aeur.eu/f/j8d (MB)
