European Parliament ratifies modernisation of driving licence and driving disqualification

21/10/2025 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 21 October, the European Parliament ratified the agreements with the Council of the European Union on two road safety texts: - the revision of the directive on driving licences, and; - the directive on driving disqualifications. The first text limits the validity of the licence to 15 years, and introduces a digital version and a probationary period of at least two years for novice drivers (see EUROPE B13607A7).
