European leaders welcome agreement between Israel and Hamas on American peace plan for Gaza

On Thursday 9 October, European leaders welcomed the announcement of an agreement reached on the night of 8-9 October to guarantee a ceasefire and the release of hostages in Gaza, on the basis of the peace plan presented on 29 September by US President Donald Trump.

“I commend the diplomatic efforts of the United States, Qatar, Egypt, and Türkiye in achieving this breakthrough. Am also encouraged by the support of the Government of Israel and the Palestinian Authority”, commented...
