08/09/2025 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 4 September, the European Commissioner for Equality, Preparedness and Crisis Management, Hadja Lahbib, welcomed Sudanese government’s decision to extend the opening of the Adre border crossing between Sudan and Chad for four months, until 31 December 2025. The crossing is used by many Sudanese refugees, mainly from Darfur, as well as numerous humanitarian convoys. “I’ve seen with my own eyes how crucial this crossing is for delivering humanitarian supplies like food & medicine. The crossing is a lifeline for millions & must remain open permanently,” said Ms Lahbib on the X network. (BD)
