08/09/2025 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 8 September in Strasbourg, the S&D, Renew Europe and Greens/EFA groups in the European Parliament failed to get withdrawn the debate proposed by the PfE group on mass immigration in the EU. Entitled ‘After 10 years, time to end mass migration now - protect our women and children’, the title is “contrary” to the “fundamental rights and values” of the EU, deplored S&D group chair Iratxe Garcia Perez (Spanish), followed by Fabienne Keller (Renew Europe, French) and Tineke Strik (Greens/EFA, Dutch). The elected representatives pointed to the “lies” about the links between crime and migration and the danger of “inciting hatred”. The President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, did not respond to these interventions, having pointed out at the opening of the session that by placing this debate on the agenda, the rules had been respected. It will take place on 10 September. (SP)
