The EU’s industry and internal market ministers are in Copenhagen on Thursday 17 and Friday 18 July for an informal meeting on competitiveness. They kicked off the meeting on Thursday evening with a gala dinner on the theme of biotechnology.
On Friday, the Danish Presidency of the EU Council framed the discussions around the theme of ‘Building a Europe of Tomorrow - Sustainable, Innovative and Competitive’. The ministers will be exchanging ideas on strengthening Europe’s industrial base, promoting critical technologies and, more broadly, innovation.
Five themed round tables will be held on these subjects: quantum, biotech, clean industries, entrepreneurship and financing. The ministers will attend two of these sessions. Industry representatives will be on hand to moderate the event.
Over lunch, participants at the meeting will discuss the subject of competitiveness for the clean energy industry.
Following the presentation of the Commission’s 2028-2032 budget proposal on 16 July, the ministers will also be able to give an initial assessment of what has been proposed to strengthen the European economy, including the European Competitiveness Fund (see EUROPE 13682/6).
