17/07/2025 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 16 July, former EU High Representative Josep Borrell regretted that the EU Council had failed to reach a decision the previous day on measures in response to Israel’s violation of the human rights clause in the EU-Israel Association Agreement. “But this is in itself a decision: Europe decides not to punish Israel´s continued war crimes and allows the Gaza genocide to proceed unabated”, he stressed on X. Last November, when he was still in office as High Representative, Mr Borrell pushed for the suspension of political dialogue with Israel, which he did not achieve (see EUROPE 13526/2). (CG)
