17/07/2025 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 17 July, the Slovenian government announced measures to ban the entry into the country of two far-right Israeli ministers, Itamar Ben Gvir (National Security) and Bezalel Smotrich (Finance), declaring them persona non grata. “These ministers, through their genocidal remarks, are inciting extreme violence and serious violations of the human rights of Palestinians. They publicly advocate the expansion of illegal Israeli settlements in the West Bank, forced expulsions of Palestinians and call for violence against the Palestinian civilian population. Through their actions and positions, they are inciting ethnic cleansing in the West Bank and Gaza”, stressed the government in a press release. According to the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Tanja Fajon, her government’s decision is “the first measure of its kind in the EU - we are in a way the pioneers”. (CG)
