Euro area inflation confirmed at 2.0% in June

17/07/2025 (Agence Europe)Annual inflation in the euro area stood at 2.0% in June, compared to 1.9% in May, according to figures published by the Statistical Office of the European Union (Eurostat) on Thursday 17 July. At EU level, it stood at 2.3%, up from 2.2% in May. The lowest rates were observed in Cyprus (0.5%), France (0.9%) and Ireland (1.6%), while the highest rates were recorded in Romania (5.8%), Estonia (5.2%), Hungary and Slovakia (both 4.6%). Price rises were moderate in Italy (1.8%) and Germany (2.0%), and more sustained in Spain (2.3%). The biggest contributions to inflation came from services (+1.51 percentage points, pp), followed by food, alcohol & tobacco (+0.59 pp), industrial goods excluding energy (+0.13 pp) and energy (-0.25 pp).
