16/06/2025 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 16 June, the European Commission announced that it was setting up a scientific panel of independent experts to examine the implementation of the ‘AI Act’. To set it up, it is seeking 60 scientists for a renewable 24-month term. Applicants should have expertise in general-purpose AI (‘GPAI’) models and systems as well as AI impacts, model evaluation, risk mitigation, etc. They should also have a PhD or equivalent experience. Finally, they must be independent of any AI system supplier. Together, the scientists will advise the European AI Office and national authorities on systemic risks and model classification.
