On Monday 16 June, European trade unions launched a billboard campaign in the Brussels metro for EU public procurement reform with the slogan “We deserve fair pay & good jobs”, said the UNI trade union in a press release.
The campaign was initiated by the trade unions ETUC, UNI Europa, EFFAT, and IndustriAll Europe. According to them, the billboards, by highlighting the diversity of staff employed in public procurement, are “calling on MEPs on the Committee on Internal Market to strengthen collective bargaining as part of the EU’s current efforts to reform public procurement”.
The European Parliament’s IMCO Committee will vote this month on an own-initiative report on the future reform. Parliament’s Committee on Employment, for its part, already adopted an opinion on 13 May favouring companies that have concluded collective agreements in the context of public procurement (see EUROPE 13639/35).
