04/06/2025 (Agence Europe) – The European Parliament Committee on Employment and Social Affairs will vote on Thursday 5 June on the political agreement reached with the EU Council on the night of 20-21 May on strengthening European Works Councils (see EUROPE 13645/31). The 2009 reform of the directive should strengthen the processes for consulting employees on decisions that substantially affect them, and provides for tougher sanctions in the event of non-compliance with the directive’s rules. Gender targets in the EWC special negotiating bodies could not be made binding, but indicative thresholds were set. Link to the text of the agreement: https://aeur.eu/f/h5v (SP)
