07/04/25 (Agence Europe) – The European Union has extended for one year, until 13 April 2026, the sanctions against individuals and entities in view of the human rights situation in Iran, according to the legal act published in the Official Journal of the EU on Monday 7 April. Two people have been removed from the list of restrictive measures: the politician Mohammad-Ali Ramin (sanctioned since 2012) and Abbas Mortaza Nilfrushan, an Iranian brigadier general in the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, who died in September 2024 (sanctioned since 2023). More than 200 individuals and around forty entities considered by the EU to be responsible for serious human rights violations in Iran or to be complicit in them are subject to restrictive measures under this sanctions regime.
