04/04/25 (Agence Europe) – The high-level round table on the humanitarian situation in the east of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), held on Friday 4 April between the EU, the United Nations and the African Union, resulted in the announcement of a further €40 million in humanitarian aid from the EU for the DRC. This is in addition to the €60 million promised in January (see EUROPE 13657/27). “I have convened this Ministerial Roundtable as a call to action: we must turn words into aid, commitments into relief, and solidarity into lasting solutions”, said the European Commissioner for Crisis Management, Hadja Lahbib. The EU also organised an airlift of humanitarian aid to the east of the DRC, which has already transported shelters, hygiene kits and blankets to the Masisi area. (LM)
