28/03/25 (Agence Europe) – A joint report published on Thursday 27 March by WWF, BirdLife Europe, Bankwatch and EuroNatur has called on the EU to increase funding for biodiversity in the post-2027 Multiannual Financial Framework. The NGOs pointed out that “biodiversity is a key factor in making our societies more resilient in the face of growing crises and climate risks”, and that the funding gap for achieving the EU’s biodiversity objectives by 2030 currently stands at almost €200 billion. Anouk Puymartin, from BirdLife Europe, adds that “ nature is not a luxury”, but the foundation of our economy and our security, and that “the cost of inaction is exploding”.
