European Disability and Parking Cards - recommendations from European Disability Forum for application of directives

28/03/25 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 24 March, the European Disability Forum (EDF) published a ‘toolkit’ for people with disabilities and their representative organisations. EDF presents the broad outlines of the two European directives adopted in 2024 (see EUROPE 13503/27), concerning the European Disability Card and the European Parking Card and the extension of these rights to third-country nationals legally resident in the EU. In addition to a summary of the new legislative provisions, the “toolbox” offers concrete recommendations for influencing national transposition in order to improve the rights and protection of data subjects at Member State level. The EDF encourages ambitious and inclusive transposition, in particular by ensuring accessibility, free cards and the active involvement of people with disabilities.
