Latest version of General Purpose AI Code of Practice worries former AI Act MEP negotiators

In a letter sent at the end of last week to European Commission Executive Vice-President for Tech Sovereignty, Security and Democracy Henna Virkkunen, seven MEPs expressed their alarm at the third and final version of the General Purpose AI (GPAI) Code of Practice.

The MEPs, who are all rapporteurs or shadow rapporteurs for the AI Act, point to the “suddenly entirely voluntary” nature of “assessing and mitigating various risks to fundamental rights and democracy”(see EUROPE...
