On Wednesday 5 March, the European Commission adopted three proposals on the details of the new 2025-2029 protocol to the fisheries agreement between the EU and Côte d'Ivoire.
This protocol was initialled by the negotiators on 21 November 2024. It covers a period of four years from the date of provisional application, i.e. the date on which it is signed by the parties.

The annual financial contribution paid by the EU to this country amounts to €740,000, based on: - €305,000 per year for access to fisheries resources equivalent to a reference tonnage of 6,100 tonnes per year for highly migratory species; - support for the development of Côte d'Ivoire’s sectoral fisheries policy, amounting to €435,000 per year.
