EU condemns arbitrary detentions of UN staff

27/01/2025 (Agence Europe) – On Saturday 25 January, the European Union strongly condemned the arbitrary detentions carried out by the Houthi rebels against seven members of the United Nations staff working in Yemen. Through a spokeswoman, the EU has joined UN Secretary-General António Guterres in calling for the immediate and unconditional release of all those detained, including members of NGOs and diplomatic missions. “These detentions are endangering the provision of urgently needed humanitarian and development assistance to the Yemeni people”, the spokesperson said in a statement. (BD)
