27/01/25 (Agence Europe) – The members of the Committee on Security and Defence (SEDE) elected their bureau on Monday 27 January. The President and Vice-President of the former SEDE sub-committee were all re-elected. Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmerman (Renew Europe, German) will chair the SEDE committee for the next two and a half years. The first, third and fourth vice-presidents were re-elected by acclamation. They are Christophe Gomart (EPP, French), Alberico Gambino, (ECR, Italian) and Riho Terras (EPP, Estonian). The second vice-president, Mihai Tudose (S&D, Romanian), had to be elected by secret ballot. The PfE group had put forward its own candidate for the post, Jaroslavá Pokorná (PfE, Czech). Mr Tudose received 28 votes in his favour, while Ms Jaroslavá Pokorná received 10. (LM)
